Company ProfileFounded in 2006 as a sister company of Choice Diesel Centre in South Africa, Choice Diesel Mozambique has quickly grown into a major player in the rapidly expanding on and off highway equipment business in Mozambique.
Like Choice Diesel Centre, which had been active in engine rebuilding and fuel injection and component rebuilding since 1989, the business in Mozambique initially focused on the primarily North American heavy duty truck sector, offering total fleet maintenance packages, covering both trucks and trailers, to road hauliers in and around Maputo.
Shortly thereafter it also began operating in Beira, initially from a container in the yard of one of its key original customers, the global logistics company, Maersk. From these humble beginnings, Choice Diesel Mozambique soon secured other key accounts and in 2009 moved to extensive new premises on the main highway leading to and from this increasingly busy port.
The company also soon found itself being looked to by its clients for equipment as well as maintenance solutions and now offers a wide range of new and second hand on and off highway products ranging from trucks and trailers to industrial machines serving materials handling, construction and mining and agricultural users.
Initially the official representative in Mozambique for both Cummins and International Trucks, Choice Diesel Mozambique took the brave step of resigning both dealerships in order to be in a better position to offer independent solutions. Many Freightliner and Volvo users now do business with the company as well, including Whatana, the fuel transportation arm of Petromoc.
In 2011, Choice Diesel Mozambique moved its Maputo branch to a massive new site immediately adjacent to the port and now undertakes on site service work for a number of the port’s major contractors such as Grindrod.
Future expansion plans include a branch in Tete and another in Nacala.
